There seems no limit nowadays to the extent that women (and men) are prepared to go to for that ‘perfect look’. Cosmetic surgery amongst film actresses has been commonplace for quite some time now, but these days, we wouldn’t be too hardpressed to find ordinary women on the street who are more plastic than real! La chirurgie esthétique chez les actrices du film a été monnaie courante depuis un certain temps maintenant, mais ces jours-ci, nous ne serions pas trop difficile de trouver des femmes ordinaires dans la rue qui sont plus plastiques que de la réalité! Indeed, in some circles, having multiple facelifts has become a statussymbol: the more you have, the higher you are in the status rankings. En effet, dans certains milieux, avoir de multiples liftings est devenu un symbole de statut social: plus vous en avez, plus vous êtes dans le classement du statut.
If questioned whether cosmetic surgery was Islamically correct or not, then without doubt, most Muslims would instinctively respond by saying that it isn’t, for thesimple reason that it would be interfering with Allah’s creation. A woman remarked, « What’s all this? » Une femme a remarqué: «Qu’est-ce que tout cela? » So Ibn Mas’ood – radiallaahu ‘anhu -said: « Should I not curse one whom Allah’s Messenger cursed? And it is in the Book of Allah. » Ainsi, Ibn Massoud – radiallahu ‘anhu-a dit: «Dois-je maudis pas celui que le Messagerd’Allah maudit Et c’est dans le Livre d’Allah? ». She said: « I have read the Qur’aan from cover to cover but I did not find that in it. » Elle a dit: «J’ai lu le Coran d’une couverture à, mais je n’ai pas trouvé que cela. » He replied: « If you had read it thoroughly you would have found it. Allah says: Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he has forbidden, refrain from it.[Sooratul-Hashr (59):7] » Il répondit: «Si vous aviez le lire attentivement vous auriez trouvé Allah dit: ce que le Messager vous donne, prenez-la, et tout ce qu’il a interdit, de s’en abstenir. [Sourate Al-Hashr (59): 7]. »
So the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam forbade women from performing these three practices which the women commonly did for the sake of beauty in those days – seemingly…
