DEFRA fund CAIP to promote the Wildlife and Incident Investigation Scheme (WIIS) and promote practices which reduce the frequency of accidental or illegal poisoning of wildlife, pets and livestock by pesticides
Most incidents are associated with the illegal use of pesticides for predator control and careless use of rodenticides and molluscicides.Gamekeepers and farmers who use rodenticides, molluscicides and predator controls are responsible for adopting correct procedures and using products responsibly and in ways that will minimise exposure to wildlife. Market research is required to provide baseline information amongst users of rodenticides and molluscicides of their awareness, attitudes and behaviours towards these products.
