{draw:frame} Martin Luther King was born in 29 January 1929 in Atlanta and is the son of a Baptist pastor Martin Luther King and Alberta Williams King, a church organist. He has a brother and sister;together they grew up in segregated America.
He became pastor also and he married the 18 June 1953 with Coretta Scott and had four children.
Martin Luther King was a non-violence militant for thecivil rights of blacks in the U.S. for peace and poverty. He organized and directed actions such as boycott of Montgomery buses, the right to vote, desegregation and minority employment.
Duringthe march for jobs and freedom the 28 August 1963, he pronounced a famous speech « I Have a Dream ». It was even supporting by John Kennedy in the fight against racial discrimination. Martin Luther Kingbecame the youngest winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
End March 1968 Martin Luther King left at Memphis to support black sanitation workers who were striking since the beginning of the monthto obtain better pay and better treatment. But violence burst around the peaceful marches and a young African American was killed.
Then in the beginning of April an unfortunate event took place.April 3, Martin Luther King was giving a speech at Temple Monson « I’ve been to the Mountain top.
The next day while he was finding on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, he wasslain at 18:01 by a white segregationist of a ball in the throat. The last words he pronounced it was for musician Ben Branch. He said: « Ben plan to play Precious Lord, Take My Hand, at the meetingtonight. Bend of the most beautiful way. »
He was pronouncing dead at St. Joseph hospital at 19.05. After that, a wave of racial riots erupted in 60 cities of the country who were making lots of death andwere forcing the intervention of the government.
Five days later, the President Johnson was declaring a national day of mourning in honor of Martin Luther King (the one for an African-American)….
